How do I reset the password on my Cisco router?

I bought a Cisco 1700 router from an auction, but there is a password.

How can I reset the router to original factory specifications?

There should be an indentation on the back or the underside of the router. It looks a bit like a hole for a scew, but it’s actually a button that you can push with a paperclip or maybe a pencil tip. Hold it down for 5-10 seconds to restore the router to factory settings. Then you can log in the adminstrative interface to your router firmware by typing the IP address of the router into a web browser (while connecting via Ethernet). You can then log in using the default username and password, which you can then proceed to change immediately.
