The default ip address 192.168.0.1 is the internet protocol address for many home based broadband routers like for example Netgear routers. It is set at the factory before the device is shipped.
192.168.0.1 is a private IPv4 network address. It is also called the default Gateway Address for the router.
On such routers, you can access its administrative console by pointing a Web browser to http://192.168.0.1. you will be able to access the administrators console. Any router on a local network can be set to use this address (or another ewuivalent IPv4 address).

The default IP address is not the same across all routers and switches. For example Brocade switching routers have a default IP address on switching routers of: 209.157.22.254/24 (209.157.22.254 255.255.255.0) .
